The area of INTENTS & PURPOSES pictured below represents three iterative works: Sculptural Object to Put a TV On #1-#5 which are goopy looking plinths, deeply inspired by feminist artists like Lynda Benglis that cascade in size, starting with the largest at the front entrance of the gallery. The Butlers Did It is a looping video of 5 vignettes that source popular quotes from Judith Butler and Octavia Butler to form a conversational, generic hospital dramedy. Footage and music are sourced from stock video and music sites, while the voice over is performed by two Chicago artists: Matt Morris and Meida McNeal. TBDI played on a small 19” HD TV mounted on top
of SOTPATO #5. And lastly, Flat Screen #1-#4 are wooden facsimiles of televisions cascading in size, and mounted on top of SOTPATO #1-#4.
