Work > Stalagmite Creamsicles [2022/2023]

Stalagmite Creamsicles is a seasonally iterative body of work comprised of ice sculptures dyed with natural dyes, and containing seeds for a native garden that will bloom where they are left to melt. The public unveiling of the first installation in 2022 on Latham's parkway included a giveaway of "seed-bergs" -- miniature seed bombs made of colorful ice and shaped like icebergs.

The second, permanent installation was created in 2023 in McKinley Park at the Community Garden site, with public events in winter and summer that included art-making, live music, and themed treats. This project was funded by E(art)h Chicago and Tiger Strikes Asteroid with donations of seeds and consulting from Blazing Star and Natural Communities Native Plants.
