A Room of One's Own Making (Redux) [2026]
This site-specific installation was a reprise of an earlier work by the same name, for the group exhibition Your Name Spelled In Soap at Patient Info in Chicago, curated by Christina Sadovnikov and Brian Jucas.
Fellow artists included Laurel Hauge, Jess Bass, Olivia Zubko, Steph Patsula, Gabriel Chalfin Piney Gonzalez, Sangwoo Yoo, Sam Fresquez, and Merryn Omotayo Alaka.
From the exhibition statement:
%The title of the show references an iterative piece made by George Maciunas during the Fluxus movement titled Your Name Spelled with Objects. Maciunas would send a small box of objects to his friends; they were each instructed to arrange them according to how they thought their names were spelled, creating a language from palm-sized objects.
Many of the artists in this show are working with similar ideas of gifting and intimacy, creating worlds from a lexicon of objects, sounds, and material experiences. Every viewer has the choice of becoming an active participant, letting the content of the work soak into their largest organ, the skin. Washing becomes an act of nurture that trickles outward, prompting us to think about the systems of care we have in place and how they are sustained and protected within our communities.%
