a safe space of risk...
Made in collaboration with Claire Arctander, this work continues their material investigations into the literal and figurative weight of everyday surfaces. As in their previous large-scale works, a safe space of risk... is comprised of striking, painterly color fields built on sublimated home and garden materials like rocks, rope, carpet and cloth. These works rely on a dynamism of form - swirling patterns made of clusters of unmoored, vivid rocks that are exposed to the elements and human interaction. This work was installed around the video projection PAINTING TREATMENTS by Leidy Churchman, as part of the group show My Viscous Throbbing Heart at Franklin Street Artworks May 26 - September 29, 2018.
